STEALTH RACECAR |
| After a year's gestation
in the workshops of Vantage House, Rikki's new racecar, the Stealth,
made its first appearance in the AMOC Mayday race meeting at Brands
Hatch. Qualifying 6th on the grid, and first of the V8 engined cars, the Stealth was set to make a big impression on its competitive debut. Nearing the end of the first lap Rikki was dicing with the leading DB4 lightweights when the engine let go in spectacular fashion. A cloud of smoke and oil signaled the Stealth's departure from its maiden outing while competitors took avoiding action. After coasting back into the pits, Rikki and his team of mechanics (Joe, Leaky and Scott) discovered the engine had put a leg out of bed (broken a conrod). The initial disappointment of exiting the race in such a spectacular fashion was soon forgotten, everyone on the team was buoyed by the Stealth's great speed and obvious potential. |
